ABOUT THE PROJECT
Kate and Colm had lived in their characterful Edwardian home in Marlow for many years but with their children growing up, they decided that the house needed quite a refresh. They loved their Irish roots and were keen to incorporate that into their new scheme and were also wishing to add a ‘mid-century’ vibe too. These aspects formed the focus for the scheme we would design which helped us to personalise the vision to the greatest potential.
Their concern was how this could work in a period house and that if they tried to do it themselves, they may make some expensive mistakes. For our work to result in the most successful outcome, it is vital that our clients place their trust in us. In this project, the level of trust allowed us to create a scheme which truly reflected the couple.
We helped them by creating colour schemes that worked to give them the feel they were looking for across all rooms in their home. We also advised on how to incorporate some of their existing furniture as well as the best places for new furniture based on their style and budget.
They now enjoy their updated home and feel even more connected to it as it reflects them as a family.
IN FOCUS
We aimed for their roots to exist within the scheme but equally that they blended in subtly to create a peaceful yet personal feel. We accomplished this by choosing artwork with colours that reminded the couple of their west coast of Ireland routes and built the scheme around it. This helped us create a calm environment for the couple and transformed their characterful Edwardian home.
"Kate has a great address book of suppliers covering not only bespoke rugs but also sofa makers, curtain and blind makers, decorators, upholsterers and carpenters. She is good to work with – efficient, punctual and keeping us updated on progress"
